Come Write Out And Say IT

My Mini-Saga

As I was reading Pink’s chapter on stories, I started thinking about my family and all of their wild and crazy stories. When my family and I get together with all of my dad’s family, things are bound to get interesting. Tipically, we gather on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Easter. Usually about fifteen to twenty people show up at my grandma’s house, some of which I do not know, and others are not even part of the family. I always meet someone knew when I go visit my dad’s side of the family. All in all, it is pretty fun, but what makes it so fun are the stories. Now, my dad can sit around for hours and just be telling one long, elaborate, exciting, action-packed story and every single person will be hanging on his every word. It is about the same way with my grandma as well. Those two can really tell some stories, at least I think so. Due to my crazy story-telling family, I chose to take Mr. Pink’s advice and try writing a mini-saga. Which came out looking like this:

He gazed into the swollen river. He never would have left the house had he known the only bridge to town was demolished. Overwhelmed by his craving, he leapt onto a floating log and paddled across pulling himself ashore. He crawled up to the golden arches and cried, “Big Mac!”

At the time when I was writing this mini-saga, I had just got done eating McDonald’s and I was also thinking about being on the river. I have to admit that my mini-saga is a little odd, but I just got on a roll and could not stop.

I really did learn a lot by doing one of Pink’s suggestions. I might even try a few more in the future.

Very nicely done. I enjoyed the picture along with the mini saga. One quick suggestion would be to enlarge the photo and embed the mini saga within the photo and make it a photographic mini saga.

    Best,
